On blog posts and gender issues

Have just realised I don’t actually need to write long, philosophical posts all the time!  So, will try for more regular, but quite probably mostly shorter posts instead.  I’m hesitating to commit to every day given my current track record (or lack thereof!), but will aim for 3 to 5 each week.

Have celebrated this with a change of theme to mark the change of approach…

Right, that’s the ‘blog posts’ bit, now the gender issues:

My first paper for this year has just got underway (for those of you who don’t know, I’m paper-by-paper working my way towards a Certificate in Counselling Theory).  Title “Sex, Gender and Religion”.

With exceptional timing, as I began my first readings, a whole discussion on gender within paganism has erupted after an unfortunate miscommunication at PantheaCon [Quick tip for public ritual organisers, if you want only “women-born-women” (a term I don’t especially like) at a public ritual, DO specify this in the advertising material.] You can read some of the discussion here and I think there are links there to other commentary – including a well-written, thoughtful piece from the ritual organisers.

Coincidence anyone?!

Or the ‘powers-that-be’ making sure I remember this stuff isn’t just an academic exercise?
