Flamenco dance is the national dance and essence of Spain. As one of the most influential cultural dance forms, it is a dance combined with gypsy culture as well as Andalusia's folk culture in Spain. Its inner strength is reflected by its graceful dance steps and movements, with provocative dance form, strong rhythm.

  1. I’m not a dancer, my mother danced when she was younger, At my university’s Special Collection archive we held Fred Astaire’s papers and bit and pieces. When I was helping as a student work-study I got to hold a pair of his shoes. That’s as close to dancing as I ever got.

    1. I am such a dancer (and have been all my life), it’s always hard for me to believe that other people don’t dance – even if just in secret! But Fred Astaire’s shoes… that’s COOL!
I must admit my definition of dancing has got broader over the years. I think it is very easy to make dance something off-limits for all except those able to be artistes-of-the-ballerina-type (and with that very narrow range of age and body type… which heaven knows, I ain’t!)
In my view, reality is much simpler and more inclusive. Dance is the physical expression of some aspect of human-ness, often (but not necessarily) to music: dance can express joy or grief, anger or happiness. The ‘dance’ bit is using your body (with all its limitations) as your vehicle of expression… Phew! Here endeth the manifesto 😉
